Gandhi - The Foreseer

Gandhi is against caste system. Why so? The whole India used to have this kind of system. And they adapted it very well. However, there are glitches in the system because of which a few sections of the people suffered since ages. As a result, the whole populations of those sections are away from education, cleanliness, etc. They used to suffer with all sorts of problems which are easily avoidable.

Now, Gandhi knows the problems related to this section of the underprivileged population. In that case, he should have suggested a few remedies to eradicate this kind of problems. But why he has suggested removing the total caste system? It is because Gandhi gives importance to persons; not to any system. He thinks that a person is above any system that he creates.

Now, when Gandhi realized that the caste system has a few loopholes and it has the lives of a few generations, he suggested removing the caste system on the whole.

What is it that separates Gandhi from his contemporaries?

May be the way he thinks, his understanding, etc. Can anyone tell why Mahatma has chosen truth and non-violence as his two pillars of strength? What is it that prompted him to go for these two ideals and stick to them throughout his life? What made him think that following these two ideals help him get India independence? Is this part of a strategy? Or just like that it happened? Obviously, when to comes to Gandhi, latter is not the case; why because, if that is so, it is impossible to stick to them throughout his life. Even if this is part of strategy, kudos to Gandhi who zeroed in on and stuck to those two ideals no matter how many hardships he has to face!

Maybe this attitude of him is what separates Gandhi from his contemporaries!

Accepting Commited Mistakes

Why people make mistakes? No matter how much great they become later in their life; one can see that the person has done a few mistakes in his young age. Is it because someone forced him to do that? Or his understanding level was like that at that moment? In some of the great people lives, it is these mistakes that brought change in them. However, in the life of Gandhi also such kind of mistakes happened, which he has accepted on his own and has listed them in his own book. Great people realize has this habit of realization. After attaining maturity, once they realize that a few mistakes happened because of them, without losing any time and keeping their ego aside, immediately they confess. This act itself separates them from ordinary people and makes them extraordinary. Gandhi has attained this extraordinary level at his young age!

HOW IGNORANT ARE WE ABOUT MAHATMA GANDHI?

It is an opportunity for us to take stock of the knowledge about Mahatma Gandhi [Father of Nation], whose birthday falls on 2nd October; today! And unfortunately, it is sad to know that most of us, don’t know much about this great man, who is our ‘Father of Nation’!

India got independence on 15th August 1947 due to the unrivaled, relentless, and rigorous of so many freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives at the feet of Mother India so that their fellow brethren and future generations live their lives with ‘freedom of happiness’; at the same time with responsibility, accountability, and commitment.

Our ‘Father of Nation’, ‘Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’ alias ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ is the one who led his Satyagraha forces against the British in a peaceful yet resilient manner, subdued them, and finally, made them go away from India leaving us a nation filled with bottomless joy, unlimited freedom, and bountiful opportunities.

Mahatma was a great personality. While leading the freedom movement, Mahatma delivered so many knowledge nuggets, which have been used by so many great personalities countless times so often so far. His sayings are timeless, priceless, and ageless.

However, it is sad to know that the new generations know a little bit about Mahatma and his activities. This fact is so disturbing! Their ignorance is so widespread that it calls for immediate attention and action on this topic from the glorified governments across the globe.

Following are a few tidbits which signify our current level of ignorance about our Father of Nation – Mahatma Gandhi:

  1. Most of the people still think that Indira Gandhi is biological daughter of Mahatma Gandhi!
  2.  Very few from the recent generations know the full name of Mahatma Gandhi!
  3. Most of the people don’t know the names of the immediate members of the Gandhi family!
  4.  Very few people know about Kasturba Gandhi [Wife of Mahatma Gandhi]!
  5. Most of the people don’t know why the first son of Mahatma Gandhi did not follow his father’s footsteps!
  6. Most of the people still think that Gandhi’s nonviolence movement against British is an attitude of rebellion!
  7. Very few people know the reason why Gandhi took certain controversial steps while leading the freedom movement against British!
  8. Most of the people don’t know in what way Gandhi’s tactics [read Satyagraha] against British worked and brought us independence!
  9. Most of the people don’t know on which date Gandhi died!
  10. Finally, very few know whether the killer of Gandhi repented for his action!

India gave birth to great leaders, saints, artists, etc. Being a responsible citizen, it is our basic responsibility at least to know a few details about these great people who walked on this great land and delivered precious knowledge chunks, which are relevant across all the times.

Jai Hind!
